How this site makes money

Short version: some links on Thailand Fishing earn a commission, it never costs you extra, and it never decides what gets recommended.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is a normal link with a tracking code on the end. If you click one and buy something, the retailer pays this site a small percentage of the sale. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid going there directly.

Where they appear

Affiliate links show up mainly in gear write-ups and tackle recommendations, where naming a specific rod, reel, line or lure is the whole point of the article. Guides to venues, species and techniques are not written to sell anything.

Where a page contains affiliate links, that is stated on the page itself. You should never have to guess.

The rule this site runs on

Gear gets recommended because it survives Thai conditions and catches fish, not because it pays best. Snakehead in heavy cover, catfish that run into three figures, heat and humidity that destroy cheap components — the water here punishes the wrong tackle quickly, and recommending something that fails would cost more in trust than it could ever earn in commission.

If something is worth buying but pays nothing, it still gets recommended. If something pays well but is not worth it, it does not appear.

Gifted gear, paid placements and venues

If a product was sent free, that is disclosed in the article. If a venue hosted a session at no charge, that is disclosed in the article. Payment never buys a positive verdict, and it never buys coverage that would not have happened anyway.

Thailand Fishing is not a booking agency and takes no commission for referring anglers to parks, guides or boatmen.

Why disclose at all

Because it is the right way to run a site people rely on to spend real money on a trip, and because advertising regulators in most countries require it. Disclosure is not a legal box being ticked reluctantly — the recommendations are only worth anything if you know what is behind them.
